Are you having one of those days? Do you ned everyone just to calm down & take a nap (including yourself!)? Or maybe you’re having trouble sleeping at night? Here is the smoothie recipe for you. Also, it might be the best tasting smoothie recipe I’ve created thus far. For reals.
Everybody Calm Down! Smoothie
1/2 cup Shredded Wheat mini squares (I used Simply Nature Original Shredded Wheat from ALDIs) Why? B6 helps you sleep. It helps your body produce Melatonin. So, check the side of the box & make sure it’s in there before you add it
2 tbs of honey “Honey can promote relaxation and help ease you to sleep at night. The natural sugar found in honey raises our insulin slightly and allows tryptophan, the compound famous for making us sleepy after eating turkey at Thanksgiving, to enter our brains more easily. Taking a spoonful of honey before bed can help you get restful sleep.” Dr. Oz
1 banana Source of potassium (de-stressed & restorer) & Also a source of B6.
1 cup of milk Doesn’t actually make you sleepy, but it helps your body to relax & coats your stomach, so you feel full.
1 cup of oats “oatmeal triggers a rise in blood sugar, which in turn triggers insulin production and the release of sleep-inducing brain chemicals. Oats are also rich in vitamin B6, an anti-stress vitamin, and melatonin.” Forbes
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder “protein ingested immediately before sleep is effectively digested and absorbed, thereby stimulating muscle protein synthesis and improving whole-body protein balance during post exercise overnight recovery.” PubMed & “High-protein foods promote sleep, and they also fight acid reflux” US News
That’s all that’s in there. Tastes great. It also helps you calm down & get ready for sleep.
