God WILL Give You More Than You Can Handle

Do you wake up on Mondays with a sense dread?  If you’re like me, sometimes the thought of tackling the week’s worth of hard work, struggles, emotions and battles can be daunting!    It is intensified if you are in a season of life (like I am) that requires MORE of you.  Maybe we even feel like it’s more than we can do.  If we think that, we’re right.  Say what???

We have heard people say that God will not give you more than you can handle.  That is not in the Bible.  Nope, sure isn’t.  God will most certainly, regularly, give you more than you can handle.  WHY would He do that??

Hard things point us back to Him.  They allow us to see our own inabilities and how very much we need His strength to work through us.  When I say I can’t, I am saying HE CAN.

My season, is parenting 2 children under 5.  I am not good at it.  I can do babies, but 2-4ish is VERY difficult for me.  I don’t know what to do half of the time and I am keenly aware of my weaknesses on a daily basis.  I see my lack of patience, my anger, my lack of self-control, my pushy-ness, my control issues & I get overwhelmed.

It’s too much for me to handle!  Why did God give me all this responsibility knowing how I am?!  Does He want me to blow it???

Not at all.  He knows me.  He knows me better than I know myself.  He made me to be exactly who I am, but loves me enough not to leave me that way.  He empowers me with His strength, with His peace, His patience, His hope for the future.

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you & not to harm you, plans to give you hope & a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

It doesn’t stop there though…

“Then you will call on me & come & pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me & find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you, ” declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 29:12-14a

What a promise!  I have seen this at work in my life & know it to be true.

BE ENCOURAGED.  In the middle of whatever difficulty you find yourself in, God is with you.  You need only call on Him.  Pray with all your heart & He will listen.  You will find Him & He has good plans for you!

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart

& lean not on your own understanding;

in all you ways submit to Him,

& He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

We are not to use own understanding, but submit to the LORD.  HE will make our paths straight.

No wonder I get so tired!  I have been carrying a load I was never meant to handle on my own!

Jackie , your so wrong about yourself. When you can’t handle things between yourself and the kids you don’t turn to drugs or drinking. No you turn to the bible and when your find the answers you need, you share it with other mothers to help them. Jackie your my hero .

  4. Such a great reminder! It’s only by trusting God through the tough times that we grow.
